Is there a provider that gives you just the Sky Sports channels without having to obtain other TV packages?

I only want the three Sky Sports channels. However, through Sky you have to obtain two other 'variety mix' packages on top, which I don't really need - hence I'd be paying extra for channels I wouldn't watch regularly. Are there other providers that will provide the Sky Sports channels as a sole package? Thanks for any help.

  1. Here's a good tip i got from a sky engineer. When you want anything from sky just threaten them that if they don't play ball then you'll go to telewest or cable or whatever other providers in your area, they will argue for a while but will give in if you stick by your guns,I used to have a 2 package deal with them and only wanted one more so i argued and threatened and got what i wanted,it's worth a try. Or there's always that "banana/sultana/santana"thing. Cheers Dicky
  2. I agree with cheeky about Sky customer service reps. But that is really the beauty about using Sky instead of cable. They are totally negotiable especially if you threaten to pull out. I am on Virginmedia now - not by choice, but because my new flat's landlord doesn't allow installation of satellite dishes because this house is in a conservation area - and a few days ago Virgin's service went kaput and all the Virginmedia customer svc reps could say is "Wait and keep trying a few more times and see if the channels come back on again. We're trying to fix the problem and unfortunately we cannot tell you when it will be fixed." If it had been Sky, they would even have offered you money back if you complained. I notice that Virginmedia includes Sky Sports as an optional package no matter what TV package you're on with them, so if you're on the most basic TV plan with Virgin - which is free of charge if you take Virgin as your landline phone service provider - you can request to put Sky Sports as an optional add-on to your basic package.
  3. If you have a Virgin phone line you receive a 'complimentary' TV package at no extra cost at all. (You get the freeview channels). You can then subscribe to the "Sky Sports bundle". You get ALL of Sky Sports, ALL of Setanta and Rangers and Celtic TV too. All for £34 a month. Howzat !!
  4. If you get a freeview receiver and get a good signal and tune it...you will be able to view 3-4 sky channels.
