Why is ESPN wasting their money and airing NFL Live during the off season?

ESPN has aired NFL Live everyday this offseason and with the same non-important things. They talk about Brett Favre and retiring and who's gonna win the next superbowl. Why do theye do this when they could have things like Baseball Tonight. Do you agree that it's unnessecary to have this one during the offseason?

Public Comments

  1. I think they are just trying to give the fans something to watch until the season kicks up.
  2. they have 24/7 sports to fill have to talk about something remember stacking the cups, spelling bee? all on ESPN
  3. I know - I can't stand it! I believe it is completely unnecessary. I don't start getting excited until my fantasy draft and the college season. We're still another month and a half still the start of the NFL season, and they're airing it? We've heard enough about Favre from SportsCenter's 10,000 replays. We'll find out who wins the Super Bowl in another few months. Get rid of NFL Live in the offseason!!!
  4. someone like me who loves football needs this kind of entertainment, but you have a point. Also, they should have NFL Live but only once a week.
  5. to keep fans up to date on their teams like whose being traded or somethin
  6. I don't think that it should be aired every day...probably once a week in the offseason would be sufficient. Especially now that NFL network is around. *if you can get it*
  7. They're not waisting money. There are more football fans than any other sport. It's a sports channel that's why! Next question. Oh and football training camp starts in 2 and a half weeks. I can't wait. Thank God almighty they don't have soccer live! BOOOOORING
  8. if i didnt have NFL live i would go nuts. i need football. there is no way around. i need to hear the news even if it is the same news as yesterday. im addicted.
  9. Well they are not wasting money because people are watching. For some reason or another people get off on watching 10 million screen shots of football plays while Trey Wingos replacemnt for the summer is flapping his yap. The problem is with NFL live in the off season is they over anaylize crap in refernce to offseason moves, talk about drama news like Brett Farve coming back , or Adam Pacman Jones's personal life, or Chad Johnson's antics and it basically becomes NFL's verson of "Showbiz tonight".
  10. if a fan goes 3 months without any form of football their brain starts to rot. When that happens the nxt season espn looses money so there u go
  11. They do it because people watch. Believe it or not, there are fans who want to hear about Bret Favre and the Patriots 24 hours a day.
  12. I guess they need something to do with the time they got. Still better than having stupid poker games on.
  13. I like the draft because they talk about other teams and things other than Brett Farve and the Patriots. It may be one the only times to watch ESPN football and not hear them talk about the national story(Pacman, Brett Farve, Patriots). They do talk about the national story, but you get to see what your team is looking like at that point in the season. Its not that stupid, I think they are still advertising beer at that time anyways, so somebody is paying to advertise. It is also saying football is right around the corner. I do not feel that is unneccessary. Baseball draft is unneccessary, why have a draft when you can sign 16 year olds for millions and the players you draft dont play until 4 - 6 years down the line or the players you draft are still playing college. I thought that was unneccessary, they should have played NFL Live
  14. Football is the most popular sport in the nation right now. They have to milk that cow any chance they get.
  15. There is no offseason. things happen in the nFL wether it's training camp, preseason, regular season, postseason, the "offseason", or minicamp.
  16. Well the NFL is the biggest sport in the country, but i definately think that airing NFL Live everyday during the offseason is ridiculous. It really angers me when i would get home and espn would be airing this because i dont care to hear about the NFL right now. i would rather ESPN just give Jim Rome, or PTI, or Around the Horn some more time. I find those shows much more entertaining than NFL Live. Doesnt anyone agree?
  17. America loves Football, bottom line. In the not too distant future, baseball will go the way of the do-do bird, extinct. THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Serious fans know that football is a 365 days a year, 24- hour a day business. There is a lot that goes on even when they aren't playing.
  19. They're not wasting their money considering lots of people, like me, watch it religiously. It's not as good as NFL Total Access on NFL Network but it helps just the same. There's no such thing as too much NFL coverage for us diehards
